My Eye

Eye Reflection

We learned about the eye and what it does. We learned about the cornea, pupil, sclera, capillaries, tear ducts and even the inside of your eye. I learned that only the pupil lets in light because it is actually a hole in your eye. Your sclera, the white part of your eye and the iris, which is the colored part of your eye, blocks out light. To protect your eye, there is a clear bump over your eye called a cornea. Your pupil dilates and contracts due to light. Your whole eye is filled with a clear jelly to hold it up called vitreous humor. To let you see color, there are pointy cone shaped things in your eyes called, well, cones. To help you see in the dark, you have rods. When the light enters the pupil, there is a lens which projects the image in the back of your eye. Your optic nerve sends it up to your brain. But when you lens projects the photo, you learn that you actually see everything upside down. So the brain flips it around for you. The eye is very interesting.
